What Is Ignatian Meditation Imaginative Prayer and Contemplation?
St. Ignatian of Loyola believed that God could speak to us in our imagination and one of the key ways he developed was Ignatian Contemplation, some other widely used names are Ignatian Meditation and Imaginative Prayer. The basic idea is that over 4 readings of scripture where people are intereacting to slowly imagine yourself in the scene. After the last reading you are supposed to continue the event or story in your imagination trying to get more out of it. The scritures that are mostly used are those in the Gospels where Jesus is interacting with people and to focus on creating a relationship with Jesus, to know him more.
